Dear Parents/Guardians,
This letter is being provided to give you an update on the district's website and text alert system. The new website is up and running and continues to be found at www.kingcityschools.org. The website will continue to receive updates throughout the spring to bring you the most up-to-date information.
The district is beginning to phase out the “Northwest Cellular Text Alert System”. The district’s new website is now linked to the student information system. As such, anytime a school announcement goes out, it will be delivered to the phone numbers in the student information system. Should you prefer not to receive alerts, you may op-out of receiving them. To receive athletic text alerts, you will be required to sign up for those on the district website. (More information later in this letter.) Additionally, if you find yourself with a new phone number, please make sure you update one of the offices, or you can update your own number by logging into Infinite Campus.
You should have recently received a text message on December 4th, 2024, through the current ‘textcaster system’ with the message below.
King City R-I is transitioning to a new “textcaster” system sending out 1-way SMS communication utilizing a new number! No action is required on your end, but one tip is to save "98900" in your contacts since all text message alerts from the district will come from that number once we fully transition systems. However, if you did not receive a text alert from that number and want school text alerts or athletic text announcements please sign up on our website at www.kingcityschools.org. Community members who are not parents or guardians of current students but wish to receive alerts will need to sign up through the district website.
Athletic alerts will continue to go out as they have in the past, but anyone wishing to receive those will need to go on the district website and sign back up. The sign-up tab is at the top of the page on the right and says “Text Alert Signup”.
We anticipate eliminating all use of the Northwest Cellular Text Alert System by January 1, 2025.
